Abstract

  • The production growth of the Large and Medium Manufacturing Industries of North Sumatra Province in the third quarter of 2018 fell by 3.25 percent compared to the same period in 2017 (y-on-y).
  • The growth of the production of large and medium (q-to-q) manufacturing industries in North Sumatra Province in the third quarter of 2018 increased by 1.31 percent compared to the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in the second quarter of 2018.
  • The growth of the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in North Sumatra Province in quarter III-2018 rose by 10.24 percent compared to the same period in 2017 (y-on-y). The types of industries that experienced an increase were among others the metal goods industry, not machinery and equipment at 24.79 percent, the printing and reproduction media for recording media at 18.00 percent, and other processing industries at 17.04 percent.
  • Growth in the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in North Sumatra Province in quarter III-2018 decreased by 3.70 percent compared to quarter II-2018 (q-to-q). The types of industries that experienced a decline include the motor vehicle industry by 28.57 percent, the tobacco processing industry by 24.90 percent, the rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 18.94 percent, and the leather industry, leather goods, footwear by 12.09 percent.
