Abstract

• The economy of Sumatera Utara based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) based on current prices in the third quarter of 2019 reached Rp 204,398.35 billion and at the base of constant prices in 2010 reached Rp 137,473.26 billion.
• The economy of Sumatera Utara in quarter III-2019 against quarter III-2018 grew 5.11 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, growth was driven by all business fields, where the highest growth was achieved by the Information and Communication Business Field at 9.85 percent. From the expenditure side, growth was driven by all components, where the highest growth was achieved by the Government Consumption Expenditure Component (PK-P) of 11.39 percent.
• The economy of Sumatera Utara quarter III-2019 compared to the previous quarter increased by 3.06 percent (q-to-q). In terms of production, the highest growth was in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Business Fields of 3.73 percent, while in terms of expenditure, the highest growth was in the Import of Goods and Services Components of 15.33 percent.
• The economy of Sumatera Utara until the third quarter of 2019 (c-to-c) grew 5.22 percent. From the production side, growth was driven by all business fields, the highest growth was in the Information and Communication Business Field at 9.55 percent. Whereas in terms of expenditure the highest was in the PK-P Component which grew 15.57 percent.
• The spatial economic structure on the island of Sumatra in quarter III-2019 was dominated by Sumatera Utara and Riau Provinces. The Province of Sumatera Utara gave the largest contribution to Gross Domestic Product in Sumatra, which was 23.44 percent, followed by Riau Province 21.92 percent and South Sumatra Province 13.55 percent.
