Abstract

EXPORT
• The value of exports through the port of loading in the Sumatera Utara region in April 2020 decreased compared to March 2020, from US $ 641.38 million to US $ 597.47 million or decreased by 6.85 percent. When compared with April 2019, Sumatera Utara exports decreased by 1.59 percent.
• The group of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value of Sumatera Utara in April 2020 against March 2020 was the soap and cleaning preparations group of US $ 7.73 million (33.29%). The biggest decrease in export value occurred in the rubber and rubber goods category by US $ 14.90 million (-16.53%).
• Exports to the United States in April 2020 were the largest at US $ 89.86 million followed by China at US $ 67.88 million and Japan at US $ 36.73 million with the contribution of the three reaching 32.55 percent.
• According to the group of main export destinations in April 2020, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 178.15 (29.82 percent).

IMPORT
• Import value through Sumatera Utara in April 2020 on the basis of CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 351.59 million, or an increase of 4.64 percent compared to March 2020 which reached US $ 336.01 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 15.77 percent.
• Import value by category of use of goods in April 2020 compared to March 2020, capital goods fell by 15.42 percent, raw / auxiliary materials rose by 4.31 percent and consumption goods increased by 32.37 percent.
• In April 2020, the group of goods that experienced the highest increase in import value was the waste / food industry residue of US $ 25.99 million (145.52%). The group that experienced the highest decline in import value was mineral fuels of US $ 9.49 million (-30.53%).
• April 2020 import value from China was the largest at US $ 113.47 million with a contribution of 32.27 percent of total Sumatera Utara imports, followed by Argentina at US $ 31.95 million (9.09%) and Malaysia at US $ 27, 76 million (7.89%).
