Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is the comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • In October 2020, the NTP of North Sumatra Province (2018 = 100) was recorded at 112.01 or an increase of 1.42 percent compared to the NTP in September 2020, which was 110.44.
  • The increase in NTP in October 2020 was caused by an increase in NTP in three sub-sectors, namely the NTP of the Horticultural Crops sub-sector by 1.63 percent, NTP of the People's Plantation sub-sector by 2.50 percent, and NTP in the Animal Husbandry sub-sector by 0.76 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of the Food Crops subsector decreased by 0.27 percent and the NTP of the fisheries subsector decreased by 0.37 percent.
  • Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect rural inflation / deflation figures. In October 2020, there was rural inflation in North Sumatra of 0.55 percent.
  • The Exchange Rate of Agricultural Household Businesses (NTUP) of North Sumatra Province in October 2020 was 112.50 or an increase of 1.82 percent compared to NTUP in the previous month.
