Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is the comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is an indicator to determine the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In January 2021, the NTP of North Sumatra Province (2018 = 100) was recorded at 114.96 or decreased 0.22 percent compared to the NTP in December 2020, which was 115.21.

The decline in NTP in January 2021 was caused by a decrease in NTP in two sub-sectors, namely the NTP of the Food Crops sub-sector, which fell by 0.74 percent and NTP in the Smallholder Plantation sub-sector by 0.35 percent. Meanwhile, the other three sub-sectors experienced an increase, namely the NTP of the Horticultural Crops subsector, up by 1.33 percent, the NTP of the Animal Husbandry sub-sector by 0.21 percent, and the NTP of the fisheries subsector by 0.84 percent.

Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect the rural inflation / deflation rate. In January 2021, there was rural inflation in North Sumatra of 1.01 percent.
