In September 2022, (the level of inequality in population spending as measured by) Sumatera Utara's Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.326. This figure increased by 0.014 points when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 and increased by 0.013 points when compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2021 which was 0.313.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2022 was recorded at 0.358, while in rural areas it was 0.259. Both urban and rural areas experienced an increase of 0.015 points and 0.010 points respectively when compared to the March 2022 Gini Ratio.
Based on the World Bank's inequality measure, the distribution of expenses for the bottom 40 percent of the population in September 2022 was 21.53 percent. This means that people's expenditure is still in the category of low levels of inequality. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure was recorded at 19.96 percent and in rural areas the figure was recorded at 24.42 percent, which means that both are also in the low inequality category.
