Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
In June 2023, Sumatera Utara Province's NTP (2018=100) was recorded at 122.19 or decreased by 1.07 percent compared to May 2023's NTP, which was 123.51.
The decline in June 2023 NTP was caused by a decrease in three sub-sectors, namely the NTP in the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.70 percent, the NTP in the People's Plantation Plants sub-sector by 2.17 percent, and the NTP in the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.23 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of two other sub-sectors experienced an increase, namely the NTP of the Horticulture sub-sector by 3.67 percent and the NTP of the Livestock sub-sector by 1.12 percent.
The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for Sumatera UtaraProvince in June 2023 was 119.85 or decreased by 0.59 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
