Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one of the indicators to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange rate (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In August 2024, the NTP of North Sumatra Province (2018=100) was recorded at 136.68 or an increase of 1.83 percent compared to the NTP in July 2024, which was 134.23.

The increase in the NTP in August 2024 was due to an increase in the NTP of three sub-sectors, namely the NTP of the Food Crops sub-sector by 1.23 percent, the NTP of the People's Plantation Crops sub-sector by 2.93 percent, and the NTP of the Livestock sub-sector by 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of the other two subsectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP of the Horticulture subsector by 3.08 percent and the NTP of the Fisheries subsector by 0.37 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of North Sumatra Province in August 2024 was 135.66 or an increase of 1.73 percent compared to the NTUP of the previous month.
