Abstract

In November 2024, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in North Sumatra Province was 1.49 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.21. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Pematang Siantar City at 3.06 percent with a CPI of 107.69, while the lowest y-on-y inflation occurred in Deli Serdang Regency at 0.23 percent with a CPI of 105.53.

Inflation y-on-y occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the index of most expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 2.12 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.90 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.56 percent; household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group by 0.18 percent; health group by 0.84 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.46 percent; education group by 1.01 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 1.63 percent; and personal care and other services group by 6.72 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure groups that experienced deflation were the transportation group by 0.44 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 0.04 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate was 0.54 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 1.13 percent.
