👩‍⚖️ Inequality Index of Batu Bara Regency 🕵

In this Barista session, we will discuss Gender Equality. Gender Equality is one of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), meaning that gender equality is not only a basic human right but also a crucial pillar for achieving a more prosperous life.

One measure that can capture the state of gender equality is the Gender Inequality Index (GII). The GII was first introduced by the UNDP and measures gender equality in three dimensions: Reproductive Health, Empowerment, and Labor Market Participation. A lower GII indicates improvements in gender equality.

In 2023, the GII of Batu Bara Regency was 0.446, an increase of 0.002 points compared to 2022. This occurred due to an increase in the gap in the labor market dimension and the proportion of women under 20 years old who are not in school. It is hoped that in the coming years, all three dimensions of the GII will consistently improve for a better Batu Bara.
