Abstract

• In March 2019, the level of inequality in Sumatera Utara population expenditure as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.317. This figure increased by 0.006 points compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio which was 0.311.
• The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2019 was recorded at 0.338, increasing compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio which was 0.330. Likewise, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2019 was recorded at 0.264, increasing compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2018 which amounted to 0.257.
• In March 2019, the distribution of expenditure for the lowest 40 percent of the population was 21.38 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the low level of inequality category. If detailed by region, in urban areas the figure is 19.97 percent and in rural areas the figure is 23.95, which means that both are in the category of low inequality.
