Abstract

  • In September 2024, (the level of inequality in population expenditure measured with) Sumatera Utara's Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.306. This figure is increasing by 0.009 points when compared to the March 2024 Gini Ratio and down by 0.003 points when compared to the March 2023 Gini Ratio which is of 0.309. 
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.333, while in rural areas it is 0.236. Both in urban and rural areas experienced an increase of 0.008 points and 0.006 points, respectively, if compared to the March 2024 Gini Ratio.
  • Based on the World Bank's size of inequality, the distribution of group spending the bottom 40 percent of the population in September 2024 is 22.63 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the category of inequality low. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure is recorded by 21.24 percent and in rural areas the figure was recorded at 25.75 percent.
