Abstract

  • The economy of Sumatera Utara based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the third quarter of 2022 at current prices reached Rp 243.91 trillion and at constant prices in 2010 reached Rp 145.71 trillion.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in Quarter III-2022 compared to the previous quarter grew by 2.24 percent (q-to-q). In terms of production, the highest growth was in the Financial Services and Insurance Business Field of 3.65 percent. In terms of expenditure, the component of the export of goods and services was the component that experienced the highest growth of 11.22 percent.
  • Sumatera Utara's economy in Quarter III-2022 compared to Quarter III-2021 grew by 4.97 percent (y-on-y). In terms of production, the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field experienced the highest growth of 16.28 percent. In terms of expenditure, the component of Exports of Goods and Services experienced the highest growth of 12.47 percent.
  • Cumulatively until quarter III-2022, Sumatera Utara's economy grew by 4.54 percent (c-to-c). In terms of production, the highest growth occurred in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field of 11.53 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the highest growth was in the component of Exports of Goods and Services at 12.09 percent.
  • The economic structure on Sumatra Island spatially in Quarter III 2022 is dominated by several provinces including Sumatera Utara Province which contributes to GRDP on Sumatra Island by 22.73 percent, Riau Province by 23.26 percent; Sumatera Selatan Province by 13.97 percent, and Lampung Province by 10.09 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu Province at 2.10 percent
