Abstract

The 2022 Human Development Index (HDI) has increased compared to the previous year. Batu Bara’s HDI 2022 is 69.51 or a growth of 1.36 percent (an increase of 0.93 points) compared to the 2021 HDI achievement.

All HDI dimensions including long and healthy life, knowledge, and decent standard of living improved in 2022. The HDI dimension with the highest growth in 2022 is the mean years of schooling has increased by 2.35 percent.
In the long and healthy life dimension, life expectancy at birth in 2022 was recorded as high as 67.55 years. This means children who were born in this year were expected to live 0.42 years longer than those who were born in the previous year.
In the knowledge dimension, children aged 7 years have the hope of enjoying 12.93 years of formal education or nearly the equivalent of the length of time it takes to complete education up to Diploma I level. This figure has increased by 0.29 years compared to 2021 which reached 12.64 years. In addition, the average length of schooling for residents aged 25 years and over has also increased by 0.19 years, from 8.07 years to 8.26 years in 2022.
Decent standard of living dimension, represented by adjusted real per capita expenditure, increased by 216 thousand rupiahs (2.05 percent) compared to the previous year.
