Abstract

- In September 2017, the level of inequality of population expenditure of Sumatera Utara as measured by Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.335. This figure increased by 0.020 points when compared with Gini Ratio in March 2017 which amounted to 0.315.

- Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2017 was recorded at 0.365 increase compared to Gini Ratio in March 2017 which amounted to 0.342. While Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2017 was recorded at 0.264 increase compared to Gini Ratio in March 2017 which amounted to 0.256.

- In March 2017, the distribution of expenditure of the lowest 40 percent population group was 20.69 percent. This means that the population expenditure is still in the category of low level of inequality. Specified by region, in urban areas the figure is 18.84 percent and in rural areas the figure is 24.02, which means both are in the low inequality category.
