Abstract

In March 2018, the level of inequality of population expenditure of Sumatera Utara as measured by Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.318. This figure decreased by 0.017 points when compared with Gini Ratio September 2017 which amounted to 0.335.
  Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2018 was recorded at 0.335 decreased compared to Gini Ratio September 2017 which was 0.365. While Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2017 was recorded at 0.272 increase compared to Gini Ratio September 2017 which amounted to 0.264.
  In March 2018, the distribution of expenditure of the lowest 40 percent population group was 21.08 percent. This means that the population expenditure is still in the category of low level of inequality. If specified by region, in urban areas the figure is 19.70 percent and in rural areas the figure is recorded at 23.53 which means both are in the category of low inequality.
